Job Title: Lead Engineer II – Product Improvement
Location: Hyderabad
Job Description:
This role leads product design improvement activities based on field performance feedback, manufacturing ease, and installation/retrieval challenges. The incumbent acts as a focal point for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and drives corrective & preventive actions. It is also a transformational role focused on implementing new processes, tools, and engineering operating systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex problem-solving using structured frameworks and tools
- Drive product improvement, standardization, and qualification projects
- Define future-state engineering operating systems using LPPD thinking
- Conduct root cause analysis and define countermeasures
- Develop geometry standards, product qualification requirements, and engineering documentation
- Review and approve drawings, part reports, and engineering specifications
- Define quality, material, welding, and NDE requirements
- Manage project schedules and deliverables
- Mentor Product Improvement Engineers and Designers/Drafters
- Coordinate with vendors and build strong technical relationships
- Adhere to industry codes (ASME, API, NACE) and client specifications
Eligibility
- Degree: Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech minimum)
- Experience: Minimum 8 years in Product Design Engineering (5 years for Master’s/PhD holders)
- Background in upstream Oil & Gas preferred
- Experience in engineering projects with safety, quality, delivery & cost constraints
Preferred / Technical Skills
- Product design experience in Wellheads, Christmas Trees, Gate Valves, Actuators, Chokes, Ball Valves
- Alternate industries: Heavy Engineering, Power Plants, Boilers & Pressure Vessels, Large Bore Valves
- Proficiency in FEA/structural analysis interpretation
- Design analysis: hoop stress, flexibility, buckling, burst, fatigue
- Knowledge of ASME, API, NACE codes and standards
- Exposure to manufacturing processes: forging, extrusion, cladding, HIP, induction bending
- Welding codes: ASME IX, API 1104
- NDE practices: UT, PAUT, PT, RT, MPI per ASME V
- Strong project planning, scheduling, and prioritization skills
- Ability to communicate confidently with senior leadership globally
